Getting Started

OKTO is designed so you can get the essentials in place first, then configure each ministry area at your own pace. You do not need to finish every module before your team can begin using the platform.

It helps to have these items available:

  • Your church name, address, website, and primary contact information.
  • Your church logo.
  • Your EIN and bank information if you plan to configure online giving.
  • A CSV export of your existing people directory if you are migrating from another system.
  • A list of staff members who need administrative access.

You can return to unfinished configuration later. The setup experience and module-specific empty states are designed to guide you back to anything that still needs attention.

  1. Complete initial organization setup. Confirm your church profile and the foundational settings presented during onboarding.
  2. Add your team. Invite the staff members who will administer OKTO and give them the appropriate level of access.
  3. Bring in your people. Add a few records manually or use the CSV importer for an existing directory.
  4. Configure the first modules your church will actually use. Most teams begin with People, Giving, Check-In, Groups, or Service Planning.
  5. Connect integrations. Add the external services your workflows depend on.
  6. Run a real workflow before launch. Test a check-in, message, service plan, giving flow, or other high-use process with your team.

New organizations are guided through a short setup flow before entering the full workspace. See Initial setup and onboarding for the guided setup experience and the dashboard checklist that follows it.

If you are moving from another church-management system, use Importing people to prepare, map, and validate a CSV import.

For a standard service, the quickest path is General Service Check-In. Kids ministry and conference/event workflows have their own guides.

  • People & CRM — member records, households, membership status, and relationship history.
  • Check-In — service, kids, event, and kiosk workflows.
  • Giving — funds, donations, and giving setup.
  • Integrations — connect the external systems your church uses.
  • Engagement — understand the engagement signals and follow-up tools available to your team.
