Kiosk mode and parent paging

Kiosk mode presents a focused check-in interface for a tablet or computer at an entrance or welcome area. It is useful for self-service and staff-assisted stations where the rest of the administrative navigation should not be visible.

Before putting a kiosk into production:

  • Test the check-in flow on the exact device and browser you will use.
  • Confirm staff know how to exit or recover from kiosk mode.
  • Keep administrative credentials or exit controls away from unattended users.
  • Verify the device will remain powered and connected during the service or event.

Kids ministry teams can use parent paging to contact a parent when a child needs attention during the gathering.

Common message contexts include:

Message type Example use
Standard Ask the parent to come to the kids area.
Incident A minor injury, bathroom accident, or child who needs a parent.
Urgent A medical or safety concern requiring immediate attention.
Custom A situation-specific message written by staff.

Parent paging depends on the messaging configuration available to your organization. Delivery information can be used by staff to understand whether the message was accepted by the configured provider.

Parent paging is an operational communication tool, not a replacement for your church’s emergency procedures. For an urgent medical or safety event, follow the ministry’s emergency protocol first.
